India posts another record daily increase in cases
As India closes in on 300,000 coronavirus cases, the country has recorded its biggest single-day coronavirus spike so far, after confirming 9,996 new infections in the 24-hour cycle between Wednesday and Thursday.
India, whose case count is lower only than the United States, Brazil, Russia and the United Kingdom, has now seen a total of 286,579 people infected by the virus, the Indian health ministry said.
There were 357 coronavirus-related fatalities between Wednesday and Thursday, taking the death toll to 8,102, the ministry said.
